- Personal one-on-one Pilates training sessions (something you will not find at your local fitness center) with professional and highly qualified Pilates trainers.
- Small and more intimate group classes where the instructor is able to give personal attention and corrections and help ensure everyone is getting the most out of the class.
- A fully equipped studio with the full range of Apparatus (Reformer, Tower/Cadillac, Chair, Barrels, Pedi-Pole) that allows you to practice the entire Pilates Method as Joseph Pilates intended. (Many fitness centers and some pilates studios only offer part of the method or teach it as a fusion with other methods, so it’s impossible to receive the full benefit of Pilates when it is taught in that fashion).
- A smartphone App called “Mindbody” that allows you, very easily and instantly, to schedule, cancel and buy your classes.
- Teachers at Play Pilates are required to be fully certified or currently be pursuing a certification through a high standard and accredited program (600+ hours of training minimum).
Working out on the Mat versus the Pilates Apparatus:
Joseph Pilates taught all of his students on specialized studio equipment such as the Reformer, the Cadillac or Tower, the Chair, the Barrels, the Pedi-Pole. Although Mat work is fundamental in developing and understanding Pilates, it is only a part of the training required to achieve the desired benefits of a strong Pilates body. With the assistance and resistance of springs, exercises on the different apparatus allow students to achieve fitness goals, a more balanced body and prepare for more advanced exercises.
Every apparatus in our Pilates studio was built to the original specifications of the equipment Joseph Pilates used in his New York studio. Each machine has numerous exercises with varying degrees of resistance and difficulty designed to maximize strength and flexibility for every body. At Play Pilates, no two workouts should ever be experienced in the same way!
